What is Contract Recruitment?

Contract recruitment is the process of hiring independent workers for a limited period of time, as defined in the contract. The employer has no obligation towards the employee once the predefined duration in the contract is over and vice versa.

Contract recruitment helps employers and employees manage their expectations with each other. It also acts as the perfect solution when an employer has to manage a high volume of work for a short period of time.

What is the Difference between Contract and Permanent Recruitment?

The biggest difference between permanent and contract recruitment can be understood easily by looking at both terms directly.

Permanent recruitment is the process of hiring permanent employees for the company. These employees receive benefits, promotions, and bonuses based on their performance. Permanent employees are preferred for integral roles inside the company and also when sensitive data is involved.

Contract recruitment is a more flexible approach. It is used for roles that a company can’t fill permanently. For example, contract employees are useful when there is a workforce shortage for specific projects. This form of recruitment is a great option to outsource less demanding jobs or replace a permanent employee for a brief time period.

How does Contract Recruitment Work?

The contract recruitment process looks something like this.

  • Assess the business needs to understand which roles require contractors
  • Find a contract recruitment agency to help you find the right candidates. Contract recruiters use their networks to source, vet, and recommend ideal contractors for specified positions.
  • Interview candidates. Again, the contract recruitment agency will assist through this procedure.
  • Create and sign a contract suitable for both employee and the employer, valid for a predefined period.
  • Payments can be made internally or through the recruitment agency.

Advantages of a Contract Recruiter

A contract recruiter has an extensive network of talents for different types of business needs. They are quite useful when a business needs to hire the best talent as soon as possible. Contract recruitment agencies already have pre-vetted talent for your specified roles that significantly reduce the reaction time and increase the possibility of finding rare talent.
